For several weeks, I had 2 active leases: one in New York, where I hadn’t yet told my landlord I was leaving, one in Jamaica, an apartment I’d seen only once, signed before I’d worked out most of the move details. All I had was a knowing that I was really ready to trust.
Long before I was certain about everything, I started pretending and imagining into the future. Let’s pretend we’re moving in a year, I told myself. What would we need? No detailed research. And this question helped me act, in the middle of a whole world of unknowns. The more I pretended and acted, the more my body believed in the possibilities.

Sometimes the mind needs permission before it needs a plan.
What's one thing you've been circling that might become easier to think through if you told yourself, "let's pretend I'm already doing it"?
In this episode, Becky Mollenkamp and I lean into the details, the questions I kept asking myself, the things I let stay unresolved, and the tense comfort 😅 of moving forward without knowing how it all would work out.
Leave a comment and let us know about your messy “how to’s” as you take the plunge and do. the. thing. you know you need to do.
